World Book Day 2017
During the week of World Book Day we held 'Breakfast in the Library' sessions on three consecutive mornings. The event was a huge success, with parents and children enjoying breakfast, sharing stories and taking part in a variety of book related activities. Other visitors included representatives from Urmston Library and Urmston Bookshop.
We also had special visitors in school throughout the week to talk about books and share stories with the children.
We received this letter from the children's author Damian Harvey just in time for World Book Day. Damian visited Highfield in November 2015 and we regularly keep in touch with him.
During the week of World Book Day, pupils across the school engaged in a mystery book competition where children wrapped a book from home in paper and then chose to either rewrite its blurb, decorate it with clues or design their own front cover.
A World of Stories
Children across the school have been using the World Book Day website to explore its brilliant resources including the great 'A World of Stories' page which is home to a range of stories being read by authors and celebrities.
Have a visit - you may find a great new book!
