Would you like to take part in an exciting initiative the ‘Joy of Moving Home School Festival’?

If you take part in the ‘Joy of Moving Home School Festival’ it is just like taking part in a school's sports day! And we all know how much fun that is.

The ‘Joy of Moving Home School Festival’ has been created to get families moving and to enjoy games together during lockdown in partnership with Foundation 92 (the charity created by Manchester United's class of 92). Also, if you take part and send photographs or videos into school of you and your family participating, then we may be in for a chance to win £500 worth of sports equipment for school. As well as that, you will also be in with the chance to receive a certificate for your efforts.

Follow this link to have a look at some of the activities you can take part in and download this booklet to see how you can plan your festival.  You might want to spend today organising your festival and plan it for a different day to make it the best it can be.

Remember to send in photographs.

That means keeping our brains happy and healthy as well as our bodies.

Today we are going to focus on mindfulness which means taking in your surroundings as it can help us to be more focused, settled and calm.

Please read through the following presentation to learn more about this and how you can practise it yourself. You may wish to play this relaxing music in the background as you read through the slides.

You can write your thoughts from slides 14 - 16 on this sheet or in your workbook.

PSHE:

Whilst we are staying safe at home it gives us time to see and think more about our local area. What are the positives about the area that we live in? What are the negatives? Today you will learn about community: what is is; who it is; how it can have an impact on the area that you reside (live) in and how you can play a positive role when the restrictions are lifted. You might think about some ways that you can change things for the better, with the help of your family.

Read this presentation and then complete the sheet (there are multiple sheet layout options so have a look through and print your favourite one to complete your work). You can also complete the work in your book.

  Music:

Today you are going to be learning about a music 'trailblazer'... a person who pushed the boundaries of composition, editing or production of musical pieces.

Our trailblazer is Delia Derbyshire - a composer who changed the way people viewed the use of an orchestra in music, by introducing electronic sounds. She took a short piece of music written by Ron Grainer and created the theme tune to Doctor Who! This process (many years ago!) took hours of patience and editing.

Read about her background and work here and complete the shorter tasks on slides 6, 8 and 10 and then challenge yourself with a cross-curricular task from slide 11.
