Below the Play Leaders are promoting personal challenges. Each day of the month there is a different exercise then each month the children review that exercise to see if they can improve on their efforts. The play Leaders are great for engaging children and motivating them to progress.
At Highfield Primary school we are proud to have a Playleader scheme.
This scheme promotes children's well being, skills, socialising, team work and demonstrates:
Play leaders takes place at lunchtime. All children are able to join in with a range of activities, led by our Year 5 and 6 children. Children that participate are given a play leader's sticker to go on their award card. This term all activities will be outdoors. The children have access to a range of equipment, such as, hoola hoops, skipping ropes, bean bags, quoits, bats and balls.
Please encourage your children to come and join in the activities. It's great fun!!
The Play Leaders had the opportunity to participate in some training delivered by Mrs Statham from Flixton Girls School. Mrs Statham spent the morning with the Play Leaders encouraging them to reflect about what makes a successful Play Leader. Mrs Statham shared some examples of games and activities that could be played with children of all ages.
During the session the Play Leaders worked in small teams to showcase their ideas of games. They used some sports equipment and discussed how they could adapt their game to suit the needs and abilities of all children. The Play Leaders were all very eager and passionate to begin their Play Leader journey.
