Highfield Eco & School Council!
Meet our new Eco-Council!
Layla - I like to go to the park and play football with my dad. I really like nature so I wanted to be an Eco-councillor.
Chloe - I like going bowling with my friends. I wanted to be an Eco-councillor because I'd rather help our school than play out!
Erin - I wanted to be an Eco-councillor because I like nature and finding things out. My favourite thing is to draw.
Riley - I do a lot of cycling with my dad so that was why I wanted to be an Eco-councillor.
Maddison - I like to walk my dog in the field every night after school. I like nature and wanted to help our school so thats why I wanted to be an Eco-councillor.
Ben - I like researching dinosaurs! I wanted to be an Eco-councillor because I think the school could be more eco-friendly than it already is.
At Highfield pupil voice is extremely important. The school council has a representative from years 1-6.
The school council representatives meet every two weeks with Mrs. Lewis, to discuss lots of ideas that have an impact on teaching, learning and having fun.
The school council representatives each have notebooks that they use to gather ideas from children in their class as well as others at playtimes and lunchtimes.
At the last school council meeting one representative felt that new playleader equipment would be beneficial for lunchtime sporting activities. This idea was voted upon and all representatives agreed. They are currently gathering ideas from children to think of a fundraising solution!
Summer Term: The school council will be meeting with a representative from 'The Friends of Highfield' to discuss further fundraising ideas.
